Summer is officially here! Between beer on patios, summer concerts, and beach days, like us you may be moving outdoors for your weekly workouts.
Staying fit in summer can be a totally different experience than attending indoor classes or hitting your local gym. Here are some must-have supports to consider as part of your summer fitness program.
Electrolytes
Moving your body in the hot afternoon sun means hydration is more important than ever. Consider adding electrolytes to your water bottle this summer. While there are many electrolyte drinks on the market, skip the sugar and try a zero-sugar electrolyte that has “everything you need, and nothing you don’t” with LMNT.
LMNT is an electrolyte drink mix available in a variety of yummy flavors, and worth checking out if you're looking to amp up your summer routine.
Magnesium
If you’re not already taking it, magnesium is a great supplement to add to your routine. Taking magnesium may boost fitness performance as it helps convert food into energy, and aids in muscle contraction and relaxation. It also helps break down lactase, which can build up in your muscles and cause fatigue.
Gear that breathes
Workout clothes in the summer should be lightweight, airy, and sweat-wicking. Ditch the full length compression pants and heavyweight shirts for something breathable, like lululemon’s Mesh Yoga Short, or Align Racerback top.
If shorts aren’t your thing, try the Airlift Mesh High-Wait Allure Legging from Alo Yoga, which features mesh sides up to the lower hip.
Protein Powder
A great protein powder is a necessary part of a refreshing post-workout smoothie. Right now we’re loving Botanica’s. Botanica Perfect Protein is a plant protein blend packed with naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, healthy fats and fibre.
A great SPF
Ask ANY dermatologist and they’ll tell you a daily SPF is absolutely required for skin safety. In addition, it prevents fine lines, wrinkles, and sun spots as you age. Protect your skin whenever you leave the house, and especially when getting in a workout outdoors.
Our fave option for the face is Dr Loretta’s Urban Antioxidant Sunscreen. With an SPF of 40, this advanced sunscreen protects skin from the four external factors responsible for more than 85% of skin aging.
